electrical signal is referred to as a pressure transducer or pressure
transmitter. Although there are many other kinds of pressure transducers, the
strain-gage base transducer is one of the most used. The physical deformation
of strain gauges, which are glued into the pressure transducer's diaphragm and
wired into a wheatstone bridge configuration, results in the conversion of
pressure into an electrical signal. By deflecting the diaphragm as a result of
pressure supplied to the pressure transducer, strain is introduced to the
gauges. Electrical resistance will alter as a function of strain and pressure.
The most
affordable pressure transducers are often those with millivolt output. The
pressure transducers' output is typically in the range of 30 mV. The real
output is inversely proportional to the input power or excitation of the
pressure transducer. The output will change if the stimulation varies.
Millivolt transducers are advised to be used with regulated power supply due to
this dependence on the excitation level. The output signal from the Pressure
Transducers is so weak that they shouldn't be placed in an area with a lot of
electrical noise. Additionally, the distances between the readout equipment and
the transducer should be kept reasonably minimal.
